Created during my 2026 residency with the Taiwanese American Arts Council (TAAC) at House 17, Nolan Park, Governors Island, Dialogue in Tiles explores the visual connections between 17th-century Dutch Delftware and traditional Taiwanese floral tiles.
The work brings two distinct ceramic traditions into conversation through pattern, ornament, color, and historical memory. Inspired by the movement of people, objects, and visual motifs across cultures, the piece considers how decorative traditions can carry traces of cultural exchange, migration, trade, and colonial history.
The title, Dialogue in Tiles, reflects my interest in imagining the tile itself as a meeting place—a surface where different histories and visual languages overlap, respond to one another, and create something new.
The work was created as part of Island Reverence: Art, Ecology, and Community, the 2026 seasonal exhibition and public art program presented by the Taiwanese American Arts Council at House 17, Nolan Park, Governors Island, New York, running May 16–November 1, 2026.

From Island to Island series began during my 2023 TAAC residency and reflects the cultural, historical, and emotional connections between Taiwan and New York—two islands that continue to shape my sense of home and identity. The residency’s setting, rich history, and vibrant artistic community provided deep inspiration.
Eco Art on Island is an ongoing series created during my 2025 artist residency with the Taiwanese American Arts Council (TAAC) on Governors Island, exploring sustainable fashion and marine conservation.
Renewed Mermaid envisions healing, as ocean colors return and coral revives. Together, these works move from loss to renewal, using the mermaid as muse and messenger for environmental awareness and transformation.

In Fading Mermaid, I depict the impact of textile waste, water overuse, and pollution through a drifting underwater scene, where the mermaid floats amid plastic debris and toxic runoff—a reflection of a world out of balance.
